North country lawmakers are beginning to react with strong words to the news of the arrest of New York state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, on corruption charges Thursday in New York City. Assemblyman Kenneth D. Blankenbush, R-Black River, said Mr. Silver should step down from his position of power, one which he has held for more than two decades.
