(Telecompaper) Opera Software has reached the milestone of 300 million monthly users across all its browser products on phones, tablets, TVs and computers. Opera also announced that it will make a gradual transition this year to the WebKit open source engine, as well as Chromium, for most of its upcoming versions of smartphone and computer browsers. Opera has submitted its first set of patches to WebKit, according to CTO Hakon Wium Lie, who said it was better to help further improve the open source systems than continue developing the company's own rendering engine further. He said the new browser on Android, ICE R&D project and Opera Web Pass operator offering would be highlighted at MWC.
