In a state with more than 100 million annual visitors and a potentially dangerous annual hurricane season, Wilson stated the need for first responders to not be saddled with decade-old equipment. Wilson also noted that the state's contract with Harris anticipated the need to replace radios with new models that are based on the latest technology that makes them interoperable and work on multiple systems - even those made by other companies.
