(Telecompaper) Orange France reported revenue down 1.6 percent to EUR 4.72 billion, on a comparable basis and excluding the impact of regulatory measures in the first quarter. The operator added 164,000 net mobile customers in the quarter, nearly twice the 85,000 added in the year-earlier period. Customer growth was driven by fleet management related exceptional gross sales in the enterprise market and a record retail adds. Mobile service revenue declined 4.8 percent to EUR 1.85 billion. Growth was also spurred by mobile equipment sales, up 24.9 percent. Orange said the effect of price decreases on Sosh, Open and Origami plans in 2012 and 2013 are gradually lessening. Orange France's contract customer base grew 6.6 percent to 22.41 million. 4G customers reached 4.5 million, up by 800,000 in the first quarter. Fixed service revenue declined by 1.6 percent to EUR 2.58 billion, although fixed broadband revenue rose 1.1 percent.
