(Telecompaper) Orange announced plans to start the transition to all-IP telephony services with a pilot in the Finistere region. The test will start in early 2017 in 14 towns with an offer to replace analogue PSTN lines with VoIP connections. The offer will be extended to ISDN lines from 2018. Following the two-year pilot project Orange will start looking at shutting down analogue lines and migrating all its customers in the area to IP fixed telephony. The exact timing of the migration will be agreed in cooperation with regulator Arcep and other operators. During the trial, wholesale customers can also participate in the IP offer. Both consumer and business customers will be targeted.
