Orange upgrades Libon to chat with any HTML5 device

2014-02-20 11:53:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Orange has developed Open Chat, a technology to allow users of its Libon joyn-compatible communications app to chat and share audio and photos with all of their contacts, regardless of whether they have the app installed or what messaging service they use, if they have one at all. As long as their contact has a PC, mobile phone or tablet with an HTML5 browser, Libon can share a chat session with that person. The function is currently available for iOS, and an Android version is due in the coming weeks. Libon users can send instant messages and make free and unlimited VoIP calls to other Libon users on Wi-Fi, or, with the premium version, to any landline or mobile in over 40 countries, along with smart visual voicemail. Orange has also announced that Libon will become the group's consumer app for all joyn-enabled services at Orange. Orange has launched joyn in France and Spain, replacing the 'joyn by Orange' apps in the two countries. It is also running trials in Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. More countries will be added throughout the year.
