Ornellaia brings Bordeaux to Bolgheri

In 1981, Lodovico Antinori founded Ornellaia in Bolgheri, then, an undeveloped area near Tuscany's coast, but famed for Sassicaia , a cabernet sauvignon-based wine owned by Antinori's cousin. Antinori planted cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot with a vision of making a Bordeaux-styled wine.
