(Telecompaper) PCCW-HKT has launched Hong Kong's first 1,000Mbps (1Gbps) Wi-Fi service at shopping malls and meeting points. Powered by Cisco's service provider Wi-Fi system, PCCW-HKT's Gigabit Wi-Fi network has adopted the 802.11ac standard. Users can start using the service at Langham Place Mongkok. It targets to increase the number to over 20,000 in 2014. Meanwhile, PCCW-HKT has established the Smart Wi-Fi Alliance to promote the usage of Wi-Fi and new technologies in Hong Kong.
