Pall shares soar on talk of sale

Shares of Port Washington-based filter maker Pall Corp. shot up nearly $20 today after The Wall Street Journal reported the company is taking steps that could lead to an imminent sale. The Journal indicated Pall was in the midst of an auction with Waltham, Mass.-based Thermo Fisher Scientific and Washington, D.C.-based Danaher where Pall's current CEO had worked.
