Integrating 700 V power MOSFET, start-up current source, and internal current sensing in 7-pin, 29.4 mm² package, Model UCC28880 optimizes energy efficiency of always-on non-isolated power systems with output currents up to 100 mA, such as smart meters, home automation equipment, and white goods. As load is reduced, quiescent current is reduced to below 100 µA. Along with current limit function, controller provides inductor current runaway protection for under load short-circuit conditions.
