Though the building has been gutted and signs posted on the doors promise a Publix is coming soon, don't expect the old Lowes Foods on Hoffman Road to transform into the much anticipated grocery store anytime soon. Kimberley Reynolds, a Publix spokeswoman, said this week the company won't open its first Gastonia location until sometime in 2016.
