A pulse oximeter is a non-invasive medical device designed to monitor the oxygen saturation of a human’s blood and heart rate based on the red light and infrared light absorption characteristics of oxygenated hemoglobin and deoxygenated hemoglobin. This application note demonstrates the operation of a high-accuracy pulse oximeter using Microchip’s dsPIC® Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs) and analog devices.
