Qantas Airways, Virgin Australia fares rise as capacity war ends

2015-02-27 08:50:44| Airlines - Topix.net

Domestic airfares have risen by an average of 3 per cent since the end of a damaging capacity war between Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia Holdings as both airlines try to keep the number of seats more in line with demand. Qantas and Virgin both reported a 3 per cent rise in domestic yields, or returns on fares, in their mainline divisions between June and December, when capacity didn't rise following three years of adding seats ahead of demand to boost their appeal to corporate travellers.
