RIM unveils new BlackBerry 10 phones, to launch first in UK

(Telecompaper) Research In Motion has unveiled its first two smartphones running BlackBerry 10, as well as announcing plans to change the company's name to BlackBerry. The new BlackBerry Z10, with a full touch design, will launch first in the UK on 31 January, followed by Canada 05 February, the UAE on 10 February and the US in March. The BlackBerry Z10, which includes a touch screen as well as qwerty keypad, is expected to be available worldwide in April. Both phones will offer LTE and HSPA support depending on the carrier, as well as global roaming, and will be available in black or white versions. Specifications include 1.5GHz dual-core processors, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage plus an expandable memory card slot, micro HDMI port and NFC. Features of the new BlackBerry 10 OS include the BlackBerry Hub for unified messaging, BlackBerry Flow for integrated application features, predictive typing, BBM with support for voice calls and video chat, BlackBerry Balance to separate work and personal applications, a new HTML5 browser, the BlackBerry Remember application for calendaring and tasks, support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, BlackBerry Saefguard security technology and the new BlackBerry World storefront for apps and media.
