Repreve Renewables is working with farmers to expand the number of farmers and landowners to grow a giant grass that can be used for everything from the combustion of electricity and heat to poultry and animal bedding. Five years ago, Greensboro-based yarn maker Unifi Inc. invested in a joint venture to create renewable energy sources through a giant grass that can be burned in place of fossil fuels like coal.
