SCE&G seeks rate increase to help pay for its employeesa pension benefits

It might seem like a small amount - a little more than eight ten-thousandths of a penny per kilowatt hour - but a proposed South Carolina Electric & Gas rate increase is facing a challenge by some of the state's biggest manufacturers. SCE&G wants to raise power rates by $9.96 per year for most households to pay for roughly $18.4 million in projected shortfalls to its employee pension plan.
