Every kindergarten and first-grade student in Lorain now has a little something extra to carry home each Friday to ensure they are nourished through the weekend. Beginning this fall, all students in the younger grades in every Lorain public school began receiving backpacks with single-serving food items that need minimal preparation but will give the youngsters sustenance through the weekend - enough food for two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners.
