Self-Assembling Silica Microwires May Herald New Generation of Integrated Optical Devices

2013-01-23 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

By carefully controlling shape of water droplets with UV laser, team of researchers from Australia and France has found a way to coax silica nanoparticles to self-assemble into more highly uniform silica wires. Team describes manufacturing technique and potential applications in paper published in OSA's open-access journal Optics Materials Express. Technique is significant because it could, for first time, enable silica to be combined with any material through process of microwire ...This story is related to the following:Trade Associations
