(Telecompaper) Sony reported results for its fiscal year to March higher than its previous guidance. The preliminary figures show revenues of JPY 8.210 trillion, up 5.7 percent from a year earlier and better than a forecast in February for JPY 8.000 trillion. The better performance was due to higher revenues from financial services, as well as an increase in sales in the Music, Imaging Products & Solutions, and Game & Network Services segments, Sony said. Operating profit came in at JPY 68 billion, versus the earlier forecast of JPY 20 billion and a reported result of JPY 26.5 billion a year earlier. The net result was still a loss of JPY 126 billion, little changed from the previous year but better than the guidance for a loss of JPY 170 billion. Sony will report more detailed results 30 April.
