Sony upgrades Xperia range with Z5 premium launch

(Telecompaper) Sony introduced at the IFA show in Berlin its new flagship Xperia Z5 smartphone. Available in standard, compact and premium versions, the Z5 highlights Sony's advanced camera technologies. It comes with the new large 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23-megapixel sensor and the F2.0 G Lens. Sony claims the camera offers the fastest autofocus in a smartphone, at just 0.037 seconds. The camera also offers advanced processing software to get close to subjects with 5x clear image zoom, as well as advancements in low-light photography and improvements in Sony's SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode for video recording. The phone's body is a slim metal frame with frosted glass back and 5.2-inch display; it will be available in a choice of white, graphite black, gold or green. The compact version offers a 4.6-inch display and the colours yellow, coral, black and white. On the inside the phones run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB RAM, Android 5.1 and up to 32 GB storage. They also come with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner with Fido support, microSD card slot, Quick Charge technology and support for up to LTE Cat 6. The premium version of the Xperia Z5 will come with a 5.5-inch 4K display, offering four times the resolution of full HD. It also supports memory cards up to 200 GB. The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will launch globally from October and the Xperia Z5 Premium from November. The standard and premium versions will be available in dual-Sim model.
