Stocks rise after Fed's announcement

Stocks shot higher Wednesday, adding to their initial gains, shortly after the Federal Reserve's statement that showed the central bank plans to press forward with its aggressive efforts to stimulate the economy and ahead of Chairman Ben Bernanke's news conference.
