Cargill, helped by strong meat margins and a "robust pull" on US ag exports, unveiled a sharp recovery in earnings for what has proven a tricky quarter for the agricultural trading giant, The agribusiness group - part of the ABCD of major agricultural traders with Archer Daniels Midland, Bunge and Louis Dreyfus - reported a 33% jump to $425m in earnings for the December-to-February period. The increase - on revenues down 11.3% at $28.4bn, a reflection of lower crop prices - was the first for the period in three years.
