Sweden backs Vattenfall exit from German coal unit

Agence France-Presse: Sweden ga­ve the green light Saturday for state-owned energy giant Vattenfall to sell its German coal operations, as the company moves away from activities blamed for climate change. The coal operations, employing 8,000 people, represent about one-tenth of Vattenfalls power production in Germany, where it is the third-largest energy supplier. The government supports the proposed transfer of Vattenfalls coal operations, said industry minister Mikael Damberg. Vattenfall is on the way...
