Synchrony shares drop day one of GE swap

Fairfield-based General Electric commenced its offer to exchange shares it holds of Synchrony Financial for the GE stock of GE shareholders wishing to add Synchrony stock to their portfolio. GE owns 705 million shares of Synchrony common stock, representing about 85 percent of the outstanding common stock of Synchrony.
