(Telecompaper) The mobile subscriber base in Brazil grew by 3.55 percent last year to 280.73 million active lines, according to data from Anatel. That included 6.76 million LTE users. The teledensity was at 138 percent at year-end. Almost 76 percent of mobile users were still on prepaid, and postpaid counted 67.8 million subscribers or just over 24 percent of the total. In the final month of 2014, TIM and Claro added the most new customers, each gaining almost half a million subscribers to finish the year with respectively 75.72 million and 71.11 million. Market leader Vivo lost around 363,000 customers in the month to end 2014 with a total 79.94 million. Oi also lost customers, dropping to 50.91 million from 51.53 million in November.
