TalkTalk fined for failure to prevent cyber attack

2016-10-05 16:02:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) TalkTalk has received a fine of GBP 400,000 for failing to prevent the cyber attack on its systems last October. The UK Information Commissioner's in-depth investigation found that the attack on the company could have been prevented if TalkTalk had taken basic steps to protect customers' information. The attack took advantage of technical weaknesses in TalkTalk's systems, allowing access to the personal data of almost 157,000.
