(Telecompaper) Belgian cable operator Telenet has launched its own subscription video-on-demand service, in anticipation of new competition from over-the-top video providers. In addition to its existing pay-per-view VoD service, the company introduced the Rex and Rio subscription plans. Rex offers a range of Flemish films and TV series for the whole family in a range of genres, for EUR 14.95 per month. Rio includes the same plus a selection of top international films and new series, for EUR 24.95 per month. Rio subscribers are promised 300 TV premiers a year and all the HBO series. Both plans are available over the Digicorder or Digibox and can be used over computers, tablets and smartphones with the operator's YeloTV application. The new plans will be available from 23 September. Both are ad-free and available without a fixed contract.
