(Telecompaper) Telenor has proposed Gunn Waersted as the new chair of its board of directors. Born in 1955, Waersted is Executive Vice President and member of the Group Executive Management at Nordea Bank and Country Senior Executive at Nordea Bank Norway. She has held a number of senior executive positions in banking and insurance, among which CEO of SpareBank 1 Gruppen and the SpareBank 1 Alliansen, Group Executive Vice President of DNB and CEO of Vital Forsikring. She is also the chair of Petoro and has previously been a board member of Statoil, Statkraft and Ferd Holding. Telenor's surpervisory board will consider the appointment at a meeting 17 December. Telenor's previous chairman Svein Aaser was dismissed in October after disagreeing with the state, Telenor's largest shareholder, about the company's handling of its stake in Vimpelcom.
