Telkom's H1 profit grows 11%

(Telecompaper) Indonesian communications provider Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) recorded a net income of IDR 7.13 trillion in the first half, up 10.8 percent from IDR 6.43 trillion in the year-ago period. Consolidated revenues were IDR 40.2 trillion, up by 9.4 percent from IDR 36.72 trillion a year year, with mobile subsidiary Telkomsel recording revenues of IDR 28.5 trillion, up 12 percent year-on-year. The number of mobile subscribers rose 6.7 percent to 125.1 million while the number of broadband users went up by 71.1 percent to 20.23 million. The broadband base includes 2.78 million fixed broadband users (up 42.1%) 11.11 million mobile broadband users (up 91.4%), and 6.33 million BlackBerry internet users (up 56.2%). Voice subscribers fell by 1.2 percent to 24.70 million. EBITDA grew 6.2 percent to IDR 20.48 trillion but EBITDA margin slipped by 1.5 percentage points to 51.0 percent. Telkomsel's EBITDA stood at IDR 15.96 trillion, up 10.6 percent, and Telkomsel's net income grew 17.5 percent to IDR 8.58 trillion.
