Somewhat predictably, discussion mostly consisted of taxes, sovereign risk and boats, leaving the impression that Western Australia is merely a rather paranoid quarry. Kevin Rudds return has raised expectations of changes to the mining tax, but defence minister Stephen Smith quickly dampened these hopes (or fears), stating there was no proposal to change current arrangements.
