UAW has been flexible to move forward, talking to VW management about setting up a works council like it has in Germany. The union would love to see workers break the barrier and bring contract negotiations to the south where several foreign automakers have set up shop.
Theyre making wages similar to what Detroit 3 paying, but it would cost transplant automakers a lot more if the union enters the picture.
