Promoters of the 2021 Track and Field World Championships in Eugene have dropped an early proposal that taxpayers contribute $15 million to a proposed renovation of University of Oregon's Hayward Field. Encountering opposition in Salem, boosters of the event have downsized their initial requests for taxpayer support.
