TransAlta withdraws Peace River hydro plan, cites economics

In a letter to the Alberta Utilities Commission, TransAlta Corp. says it wants to pull its application for a 100-megawatt power plant near Dunvegan, Alta. But last May, the company asked the commission if it could delay the completion date by nine years, until market conditions improve.
