Turner secures Champions League rights, launches sports OTT platform in US

(Telecompaper) Turner Broadcasting System has announced a three-year multi-platform rights agreement to air the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in the US, beginning with the 2018-19 season. At the same time, the broadcaster also revealed plans to launch a new standalone premium sports streaming video service for US consumers in 2018. In a statement, Turner said the standalone service will broadcast the vast majority of the matches, with live games and content also available on its TBS, TNT and truTV cable channels as well as its sports website Bleacher Report.
