U.S. stocks close higher after upbeat earnings

U.S. stocks ended Monday's session higher, recouping most of the losses from the previous session. The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded their best one-day gain in three weeks, as better-than-expected earnings reports from companies such as Hasbro, Inc. and Halliburton Corp. helped lift the markets.
