UK mobile operators, ICO tackle nuisance text messages

2014-03-20 21:35:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) UK mobile operators Vodafone, EE, O2 and 3 UK are working with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to tackle nuisance text messages by using the GSMA's Spam Reporting Service. Provided by Cloudmark, this service allows operators to analyse spam attack patterns, identify the sources of attacks and shut them down. Through the GSMA's Spam Reporting Service, UK mobile phone users can report nuisance text messages through a free-of-charge short code: '7726' or 'SPAM'. The operators and the ICO are looking to examine ways to extend the service to tackle nuisance calls.
