Second-quarter earnings for the retail sector as a whole are forecast to be lower than the prior month, despite easy year-on-year comparisons. Belk saw its net income more than halve due to higher expenses, Genesco booked a hike in net earnings, Oxford Industries raised its full-year outlook despite swinging to a loss, and Sears Canada returned to profit.
