US Q2 in brief: Dollar General, Burlington Stores, Destination Maternity

Second-quarter earnings for the retail sector as a whole are forecast to be lower than the prior month, despite easy year-on-year comparisons. Dollar General posted increases in earnings and sales, including apparel, Burlington Stores has raised its full-year guidance after returning to profit, and PVH Corp revealed results that beat its expectations, upping its full-year guidance. However, Destination Maternity lowered its full-year outlook after swinging to a loss, and Guess saw both earnings and sales fall in the quarter.
