US Q2 in brief: Shoe Carnival, J Crew, Aeropostale, Bebe

Second-quarter earnings for the retail sector as a whole are forecast to be lower than the prior month, despite easy year-on-year comparisons. shoe Carnival booked an 84.6% jump in profit, J Crew moved to a loss in its latest quarter, while Bebe Stores improved its net loss and announced a licensing deal for China. Aeropostale booked a net loss for the eleventh straight quarter, and Destination XL delivered what it said was an "outstanding" quarter.
