Compiled from faculty from the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory by Kent Schwartz Porcine epidemic diarrhea the disease (PED) and the virus that causes it (PEDV) currently dominate pork producers concerns as colder months approach. Detecting evidence for presence of the virus is done by using any of a number of different diagnostic tests. Diagnostic tests can be viewed as diagnostic tools. Like a mechanics shop, some of the tools are better suited for certain jobs than others, and not every shop has the same repertoire of tools. read more
