United captain Kim Noakes and her co-pilot Jan Lumbrazo were at the controls this month for an historic delivery flight of a new Boeing 737-900 ER. Women have long had a role in the airline industry, but mostly as flight attendants and ticket and gate agents and in the executive suite.
