BusinessGreen: Two 6MW turbines have been installed at the Gunfleet Sands wind farm as part of a demonstration project designed to lower the cost of offshore wind power. The 80 metre high Siemens turbines have a blade diameter of 120 metres and are the first of their kind to be installed anywhere in the world. Developer DONG Energy expects the turbines to start generating electricity in the spring when a three year testing programme gets under way 8.5 kilometres off the Essex coast.
