Universal Stainless forecasts third-quarter loss

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products said today it expects to report a third-quarter loss of $2.40 to $2.45 per share, blaming charges related to the Bridgeville specialty steel producer's falling stock price, layoffs, and other items. The company said it will take an after-tax, non-cash charge of $13.2 million, or $1.87 cents per share, primarily related to its stock price, which has fallen 53 percent this year.
