Rated from 2,000–6,000 hp, AC Induction Electric Motors offer continuous duty operation and are designed for use with medium-voltage, variable frequency drives. Whereas diesel engines require use of transmission, electric motors are direct coupled to fracking pump. Rated torque is delivered from 0 rpm through rated rpm, and can be shut down immediately. Virtually maintenance free, electric motors are externally cooled so no shutdown is required between duty cycles.
