Virginia, Maryland earn low grades for manufacturing and logistics industries
2015-07-15 11:24:17| Logistics - Topix.net
Virginia and Maryland should be doing better in manufacturing and logistics, according to a new report from Ball State's Center for Business and Economic Research. Virginia and Maryland both earned D grades for their manufacturing industry, while Maryland's logistics industry pulled a D and Virginia's a C. Overall, both states earned C and D grades in every category except one - sector diversification, with Virginia earning an A. Like many states, Maryland and Virginia have grappled with the erosion of its manufacturing base over the decades as plants have closed and jobs have moved overseas, and both states have launched initiatives targeting emerging areas such as biologics and advanced manufacturing.
