United Technologies ' Pratt & Whitney unit is sustaining its defense contracts. Recently it signed a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense worth about $231 million for the F 119-PW-100 engines, which are used to power Lockheed Martin Corporation ' s F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jet.
