White House economic adviser, key in Detroit plans, stepping down

A key White House economic adviser who played a key role in General Motors keeping its headquarters in Detroit and the Obama administration's recent outreach to the Motor City after filing for bankruptcy is stepping down Jan. 1, the White House said Friday.
