Two Northern California women have filed a proposed statewide lawsuit accusing the Raley's market chain of illegally denying them light-duty assignments and forcing them to take unpaid leave when they became pregnant. The suit, filed last week, comes on the heels of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling strengthening pregnant women's protections from discrimination at work, but relies on even stronger California laws that require employers with at least five employees to accommodate pregnant workers.
