Last week, United States supermarket chain Jewel-Osco removed from its shelves its ironically titled "Essential Everyday 100% Parmesan Cheese", following a Bloomberg News investigation. Reporter Lydia Mulvany revealed the UN Food and Drug Administration discovered evidence Pennsylvania-based Castle Cheese Inc. was doctoring its "100 percent real" parmesan with fillers such as wood pulp, and distributing it to some of the country's largest grocery chains.
