Worcester City Council approves purchase of surveillance cameras for 2 neighborhoods

Despite some residents' objections, the City Council has advanced a plan to install surveillance cameras in the Grafton Hill/Union Hill and Shrewsbury Street neighborhoods. The council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allot $54,000 for the purchase and installation of the cameras, which will be linked to the Police Department's Real Time Crime Center and its ShotSpotter gunshot detection system.
